tile backsplash ?

I know (from reading the forums) that I can install a kitchen tile backsplash on wallboard and where it was painted, I should "rough it up" for adhesion. But... what about where it was painted over old wallpaper? The old wallpaper is not going to come off easy so then, since this is above a 4 inch corian backsplash and really for looks more than function (in other words it's probably not a "wet area") the big question - will it stick?
thanks

When removing wall paper, you use moisture. What's going to happen to the wall paper from the moisture in the tile setting materials?

It may work. It may last for years. I have seen houses with the wall paper in perfect condition, that has been there at least 10 years. It didn't come off when you painted it.

Then again, it could fall off in a year when someone slams a door.

I say you are going over an egg shell waiting to break. Remove it and do it right the first time.
