Painted grout?
#1

I have tile in my bathrooms that looks like the grout has been painted (it is not dye, because I can see the gray looking grout under the paint). Some of the grout looks like the paint has worn off. What do I do to replace the color and using what. Color could be changed.

I'm not sure how exactly to match the grout color, and am wondering if maybe a different color grout had been used. I have both white and gray grout in my bathroom. I wonder if they tried to fill in missing grout and just used whatever color they had on hand instead of matching it.
I think the paint would need to be removed before you dye it since the colors wouldn't be the same afterwards, or paint it since the new paint may not adhere to the old. I used a vinegar and water solution (letting it sit on the tiles) to remove paint from the tiles that were along the wall at the floor and it worked great. the previous owner had primed and painted them. Maybe try that to see if the paint comes off. If it does, you can then decide if you want to paint or dye the grout.
