Question Cement Floor?

I have a small room, (10x12) that I am thinkinking about putting a cement floor in. Problems - its on the 2nd floor and im worried about weight, BUT - I only have to install 3/4 inch of cement, since it butts up against a 3/4 in pine floor, so I'm also worried about stability/cracking. Is this do-able? Am hoping to stain a faux finish when done, but thats another story. Thanks for any feedback.

A 3/4" concrete floor over wood floor would crack. The weight per sq.ft. wouldn't be that much.I would suggest 1/2" backer board and tile that would give you the desired height. and look good too.

Unhappy

Thought so, but glad to have someone verify. HD, our favorite supplier for the DIYSelferwould not commit. Back to the drawing board. Haven't found a tile I'm happy with. 12x12 makes the room look too small. Thanks for the feedback.
