Tile floor

Do you always have to start the 12 x 12 tile in a door way? In the bathroom I am tiling the door is about 3 foot wide at the other end of the room it is over 8 foot wide, it's a tee shape. If I start at the door and go to the other end I will have to cut 9 tile 8inches wide to finish. If I start at the wall I will have to cut 3 tile 8 inches. Do you have to start in the door?

I've always found that full tile at the doorway looks best..but you can do what ever you like......try to avoid a really small piece at the doorway though.

I want to replace the vinyl floor in a bathroom with tile. The house is two years old. Can I just pull the vinyl and put the tile on whatever base is under the vinyl, or do I have to put down wonderboard before the tile? Thanks much.Read More
