I have this 1978 white counter top that is white with gold sparklies on it...I'm sure everyone on the planet has had this at some point. It was the rage a few decades ago. Anyway, what I want to know is what is this stuff? and can I lay porcelain or ceramic tile on it without having to rip it all off? What would normally be under this stuff - just plywood? If so, can I lay the tile right on the plywood?

guidance please!

Ceramic tile over plastic laminate counter

If the top is a preformed top with a rolled edge and backsplash, you will not be able to install ceramic tile over it. If it has a square edge, forum members have reported tiling over the laminate.

Asked this in the window forum but didn't get a response. We want to make a glass block window for the bath. I know these can be purchased already assembled but we have some glass block units. From what I can gather they are put together with silicone caulk and was wondering if anyone could give us a step by step procedure for putting these together for a window in our bath. I am putting up white tiles as a backsplash for my kitchen counter. My walls are white too so I wanted to do something to spruce it up a bit. Is there such a thing as a stencil kit for tiles? Or is there a certain paint/marker/pencil/whatever that can draw on the tiles and not wash off? Or perhaps some sort of finish to glaze over the tiles after stenciling them?
