Question Tile over vinyl

My wife and I just bought a home, and I want to put ceramic tile down in the kitchen and foyer. Currently there is existing vinyl over the subfloor. Can put Dura-rock board directly over the vinyl? Or should I remove the vinyl first? Also should remove the existing dishwasher to tile under it, or just tile up to it?

Hi
You can put the durock on top, if the vinyl is not cushion floor(if you can dent it easily, it's cushion.) Hard vinyl is ok to go on top of. You may not have enough room to put the cement board and the tile under the dishwasher. If not, go up to it, and make sure you save some extra tile for the future...you may have to remove a few in front of the dishwasher to get it out for repairs.
