Question Grouting Travertine & Slate?

I'm preparing to grout a bathroom walls and floor tiled in travertine (1/8" joints) and slate (3/16" joints). I saw the post below about using the "pastry tube" method. Is this approch actually preferred for these materials? I am concerned about introducing too much water while trying to do the initial cleaning. And is unsanded grout the proper material to use?

Pastry tube

Go to www.johnbridge.com and ask the tile pros on the forums there what they think about pastry tubes.
