Unhappy Instructions on installing tile for backsplash

We are redecorating our 18-year old kitchen, which includes installing new countertops. I want to install 6" tile between the countertop and cabinets - about 16-18 inches high and approximately 10 linier feet long, depending on where we determine to be the natural stopping point. I am inexperienced in installing tile and would appreciate any suggestion on where I can find a reference on planning and installing wall tile. Thank you for your time and help.

Lightbulb Instructions on installing tile for backsplash

When we painted the kitchen in our house I wanted to put tile up on the backsplash but was not sure if I could do it. My son-in-law had some vinyl floor that looks like 4" tile (and the color matched my kitchen) so we put that up behind the sink. I put molding around the edges and it looks great. Easy to clean too. Just a thought.

All home improvement centers and public libraries have excellent books on installing tile. Tiling a backsplash is about the simplest tiling job that exists. I'm sure you'll do fine.
