cleaning marble

In the process of polishing marble after sealing. There are spots on the marble that no amount of polishing will remove. Have actually tried acetone, ammonia and pain thinner as a last resort. Was told to try a diluted mixture of hydrochloric acid. Will this disintegrate the marble?

Cleaning marble

Marble should be cleaned, sealed, and polish with products recommended for marble and natural stone. You did not indicate the type of stain that you are attempting to remove. Go to www.stonecare.com to learn more about marble, its care and maintenance, as well as how to deal with special problems. Marble, like limestone, should never be cleaned or exposed to acids, even acidic drinks like lemonade and juice.
