Shower tile cleaning

Does anyone have any good ideas on how best to clean the grout in a shower? It is not real bad, however there are some places where the grout is becoming dark. Also, there are small areas where the grout is falling out. Can a white silicone tub & tile caulk be used satisfactorily?

You really should regrout those areas if the grouts falled out.

What color is the grout????
For cleaning "white" colored grout household bleach and a toothbrush bleach in a well ventilated area works well in removing mold and mildew. Rinse well with plain water afterwards then dry with a soft clean cloth (old towel).

If the grout is any other color than "white" then DON'T use bleach or the color will fade. Instead, you might want to try some other type of cermic tile cleaning product that specifically lists it's safe for colored grout. And by all means, don't use any type of acid based clearers since acid can etch or pitt the ceramic tile face, if used over time.

Grout repair

Cracked and missing grout should be removed and replaced. Once grout has been replaced or cleaned, keep sealed with penetrating sealer. Grout tends to be porous and absorbent of oils, soils, and stains.

Cleaning Grout

It is not necessary to remove grout just because it has gotten dirty!!!

It is also not neccessary to use bleach!!

Instead of bleach, use a paste of OxyClean held in place on the walls by a piece of plastic that is taped over the past.

Look for a tile cleaning person in your area that uses a vapor system.

They can clean your grout with hot water vapor and make it look new.
