Additional underlayment

I will be putting in a tile kitchen floor.
I have 3/4" subfloor.
Plan on using 1/4" hardibacker to set the tile on.

I want to know if the addition of 1/2" outdoor plywood (between the subfloor and hardibacker) might help or hinder (or make NO difference) to "stiffin" the floor?
Thanks

you can either put 1/2 hardibacker down or use a layer of 3/8 ply to beef it up.Min.requirements for sub-floor are 1 1/4 inch also how big are the joists under the sub-floor let us know that before you proceed

Thanks for the reply!

The joists ar 2x8 - 16" OC

You mention...
Min.requirements for sub-floor are 1 1/4"

BUT
you also say that I can put 1/2 hardibacker down
OR
use a layer of 3/8 ply to beef it up.

If I just use the hardibacker that only comes to 1 inch (not the Min req.)

Is it advised to use the 3/8" ply to make for the stiffer floor??
Thanks,
Frank
