replacing bathroom tiles

Although I have installed new tiles in a shower enclosure I have never replaced existing "uglies" around a bathtub. When I start breaking away the old tiles what can I expect to find and how difficult is it to prepare that surface to receive the new mastic and tiles?

It really depends on whether water got behind the tile.

Go for it!

need to be careful when doing that,if they were set with mastic they start falling off the wall if the glue has crystalized,if they were installed with mortar you should be ok as far as that goes.Prep will depend on how difficult the tile are to get off the wall

Be sure to remove the grout around the tile/s that need replacing, first before actually working on the tile. If you don't, it could crack or loosen adjacent tiles.
