ceramic tile layed over linoleum
I just finished tiling my 500 sq. ft. kitchen, panty and bfst. nook... after reading a lot of literature on it. I opted not to remove the existing linoleum as the hardiboard backing web site said the backing board could be installed over Vinyl Composition Tile ... which I thought my floor was. (I think I just wished it was). I removed the vinyl linoleum (same type) from the bathrooms and they were most definitely sheets, not tile. When I installed the backing board I cemented and screwed as the directions instructed.
My question, what do I have to look forward to due to my placing the backing board on the linoleum? (even though its cemented and screwed)
Thanks,
TomRogers

if the subfloor requirements were met and the hardibacker was installed correctly then you should not have any probs,min1 1/4 inch subfloor, screwed every 2"on the seams and every 4to6"in the field, joints taped with nylon mesh tape and thin set,1/4 x 3/8 x 1/4 notch trowel for tile up to 16" then 1/2 notch for anything bigger ,grout mixed ,spread and cleaned according to the man. reccomendations, let dry at least 72 hours[some sealers require more dry time]before sealing ,then you should be ok
