tiling a wood base
We have a corner gas fireplace surrounded by knotty pine and would like to tile over the pine. We're not sure of what's behind the wood, as far as framework, so are hesitant to remove the pine. Is it possible to adhere ceramic tile to the pine?

you would ahve to put a layer of 1/4 durock over the pine and i'm not sure you have the space to bring that out.Is the pine flush with the fireplace or sitting on the face of it?You may end up tearing that off and taking down to the studs and add the durock to that
