Concrete subfloor

I am installing ceramic tile (approx 500 sq. ft.) on existing concrete floor. The floor is level but has cracks in some areas, some are hairline others are 1/32"-1/16" wide. Will this present a problem?

It may, The industry sayes not to tile over a crack becouse it may cause the tile to crack . MEMBRANES ARE SOLD FOR THIS PURPOSE. At the present there is no standard for them but it is coming soon since ANSI has it for vote. see noblecompany.com and look at Noble Seal CIS . It was the first product made for this use. It can be installed in strips or the whole floor.

We have a corner gas fireplace surrounded by knotty pine and would like to tile over the pine. We're not sure of what's behind the wood, as far as framework, so are hesitant to remove the pine. Is it possible to adhere ceramic tile to the pine?Read More

I live in an older small home (built in the early 50's) in our laundry room area, we installed a ceramic tile floor (12 x 12). Our Refridgerator rests on this floor as well, and the circuit breaker box is behing the refridg. When a breaker blows the fridge has to get pulled out! When we pull the fridge out, the tile under the fridge cracks. We have replaced this floor 3 times in the past 3 years, and always the same thing. The tile cracks instantally. We have tried magic sliders on the fridge, etc... nothing works. The subfloor is not level and we know that, but we do not have the money or the experience to fix it. Do you have any suggestions?
