Can I start tiling my counter top

I removed the fermica off this counter top.


Do I still need cement backerboard.

Or can I start tiling?

NEED?? I would install a 1/4" backerboard.

yes,the reason being now that you tore that formica off the wood is knda rough and this will level the playing field and make everything a little easier and and last a little longer

I always suggest waterproofing countertops so find yourself a waterproof sheet or paint on membrane...

Ok have backerbaord in place so now time to tile
