Grout Removal

Grout Removal
I recently installed a ceramic tile floor in my bathroom. The tile looks like and has the characteristics of stone. I've successfully grouted the tile and cleaned the excess grout for the most part, but I am having difficulty in removing the grout that has found its way into the pits and imperfections on the face of the tile that make it look like stone. What is the best way to remove this grout. I have tried water on an old tooth brush and a bottle scrubber, but to no avail. Thanks in advance for your help!!

It's tedious, but a hardwood dowel, the size that will fit in a pencil sharpener, is often your only recourse. Wet the grout and work it out with the sharpened stick. Slow but sure.
