New tile over floor tiles

Part of my hallway and bathroom have ceramic tile on it now. I'm thinking of putting new ceramic tile over the whole hallway and bathroom.

Is it best to remove the tiles from the floor and then put the new tiles down or can I put the new tiles over the tiles that are already there?

what are the pros and cons putting tile over tile?

thanks

If the existing tile is securely attached, and if the additional flooring height doesn't create any issues with doors or transitions or other items, then you can tile over tile just fine.

no wax build up or grease or anything that may hinder the bond of the tile,if there is a high gloss on the tile you may want to rough it up a little to ensure a good bond
