slate sealer

i want to seal my new slate floor with a hard, clear, non-yellowing sealer (like a polyurethane)....

can i use a store bought polyurethane (like for cabinets/trim) or do i need to order a "special" sealer from a stone/tile manufacturer??

thanks

yes/you need a sealer made specifically for the type of stone you are putting ,do not attempt to use any thing made for wood for this because you will ruin the marble or slate and probably have to tear it out

ok...thanks for the info...

i want my slate to look "wet"....will the stone enhancers/sealers do that and work as a good penetrating sealer....

to a certain degree they will it will darken a little when sealing and give it "wet" look in the sense of being a little darker in color not so much as a sheen or a polished look
