Bath tiled wall and floor thickness

I am about to start rough plumbing of my future basement bathroom. To do this I need to know the thickness of finished walls and floor. I will be putting tile on walls and floor, but I have not decided which one yet. Can someone tell how to calculate total thickness of finished wall from stud surface and floor from concrete floor surface. Are all tiles pretty much the same thickness or it varies greatly from type to type? Do I have to pick up exact tile I will be putting on walls and floor before starting my rough plumbing?

yes ,tile comes in many dimensions so you need to get the tile you want before you start this project so you know what you are dealing with to get the right distance you need

Part of my hallway and bathroom have ceramic tile on it now. I'm thinking of putting new ceramic tile over the whole hallway and bathroom. Is it best to remove the tiles from the floor and then put the new tiles down or can I put the new tiles over the tiles that are already there? what are the pros and cons putting tile over tile? thanksRead More
