Tile in the bath tub

I am tiling my bath room using 8"H x 6"W tiles going all the way to the celing. If I start from the floor to the celing the problem is the tub is 14" high the first row on the tub will only be 2" high. Is that ok? If I Use a full tile level with the tub I will be left with 1" at the celing and a 6" tile on the bottom. Which is the right way to do this

Hi John,

You can start with half a tile at the floor (no waste). that will give you about a six inch cut above the tub (reasonable) and decent cut at the ceiling (where there will be some waste).

Don't worry about the waste. It's a small matter compared to the layout consideration.
