Question Granite Tile Installation

I'm making a 36x48 kitchen table with granite tile top. Using 3/4-inch birch plywood under the tile. I'm trying to decide if I can lay the thinset & tile directly on the plywood, or if I need to first attach a 1/4-inch concrete board on top of the plywood, then apply the thinset & tile? Any ideas/opinions? Thanks!

do not put the tile directly on the wood as the expantion/contraction of this material will cause tiles to loosen, crack and separate. nail or screw a concrete board to the wood then apply your thinset and set your tile.

I would use denshield to install on, even though you wont be dancing on it, it couldnt hurt. Tiles need stability.
