ditra is an uncoupling membrane that is used for the installation of tile and marble when the issue of movement or heighth may be a problem. It is orange in color and has a waffle face with a fiberglass cloth attached to the back of it .What you do is roll it out on the floor and trim it in then peel back and using a 1/4 by 1/4 inch trowel you comb thinset out on the floor and then place the ditra in the thin set and roll out with a carpet rolloer or if you dont have one use a 2x4 and you're weight and get it in the thinset that way making sure you get 100% coverage on the back, cause that is what the whole install is depending on

Ditra
Hi -
I don't think you can get Ditra at Home Depot. I happened to find it at a tile place where I live (MA).
But, on a website www.Tile-experts.com, they have it, and at a better price than the tile place has it for. Unfortunately, there is shipping costs, but it still worked out cheaper.
The manufacturer of Ditra is Schluter Systems. www.schluter.com

Here's how it reads from the site
Application and Function
Schlüter®-DITRA is a polyethylene membrane with a grid structure of square cavities, each cut back in a dovetail configuration, and an anchoring fleece laminated to its underside. Designed for ceramic tile and dimension stone installations, Schlüter®-DITRA serves as an uncoupling layer for problematic substrates, a waterproofing membrane, and a vapor pressure equalization layer to accommodate moisture occurring at the underside of the substrate. To bond Schlüter®-DITRA, use a bonding mortar that is appropriate for the substrate. Apply the mortar using a 1/4" x 3/16" (6 mm x 4.5 mm) V-notched trowel. The anchoring fleece on the underside of Schlüter®-DITRA must be fully engaged in the mortar to provide a mechanical bond to the substrate. Using the thin-bed method, set the tile covering directly on the Schlüter®-DITRA in such a way that the tile adhesive becomes mechanically anchored in the square, cut-back cavities of the Schlüter®-DITRA matting. Schlüter®-DITRA is also suited as a support matting for covering materials such as stucco, plaster, or screed.
sorry for any mis information
