making setting bed for bathroom

Just completed shower came out very nice, now for the bath room floor outside of shower, Im a little cornfused, there is a 11/4inch plywood floor over 16inch spaced joists after removeing lanolium and osb board, used 1/2 inch wonder board on shower with tar paper behind, would like to use 1/2 wonder board on floor this is wet install, do i use thinset under wonder board? do i need more barrier? what is the best for this bath room which will see heavy use thanks for your help Gil

no==I would suggest you start over by researching how to do a shower .. There are many books avalible.
1 slope mud (or pre slope)
2install pan- Behind wall cbu ect.ect.
3.topping slab(mud)

The 16"oc is good. The more ply(thickness) the better.I would rather go to 1/4" cbu and thicker ply wood when possible.The cbu needs thin set under it to fill the gap between it and the ply wood.(also screws or nails)A waterproof membrane is optionial.KIDS? WE ARE NOT TALKING THE SHOWER HERE BUT THE BATHROOM!

yes Kids, and not the shower, the plywood is the subfloor so you think i should ad more plywood then go with thin set and cbu correct, should not put thin set on subfloor to cbu?

Replacing an old tile floor

I have a bathroom that is in serious need of a remodel. The first step would be removing the old ceramic tile floor and lay new. My question is...how do I go about it? Just take a sledgehammer to it or what? After I get it all up, how do I approach the subfloor, tear out all the way down? I've done tiling before but never torn out the tile of a floor. I've heard conflicting suggestions from tiling over the old to lifting up the tiles and using an leveling compound, then tile. Any suggestions you have are appreciated. Thanks for your help.Read More

I have 2 questions: 1) I have a tile floor in my kitchen that consists of large dark blue tiles and a very light gray grout. I absolutely hate the contrast between the tile and grout. Is it possible to paint the grout? I know it would be time-consuming, but since we don't currently have the money to replace the floor I'm willing to put the time in.
