shower tile question

Is there a limit to the thickness of tiles in a shower? I'm considering using a rough texture (not-shiny) ceramic tile and the ones I've found that I like are about 5/16" thick. Is this too thick?

Also is it a problem using this type of tile in a shower, or does it need to be the shiny non-porous kind for moisture reasons?

Much thanks.

as for the thickness ,so long as the drains clamping ring will adjust it should not be a problem.
