thinset

OK some quick questions.

From reading and asking a friend it appears the thinset should be the consistency of peanut butter! How should the thin set feel if I rub it between my fingers?

On average how much time does it take you to mix 1/3 bag of thinset?

Do you normally just chuck your 5 gal pal when your done for the day or do you clean it up?

peanut butter is dead on....No point on rubbing it between your fingers...you'll know.
I would chuck the pail....cleaning it out might cause blockage in your sewer pipes ; )
Just mix slowly adding thinset until the consistancy feels thick.

between honey and peanut butter,if it's too dry you won't get any transfer from the thinset to the tile or to the floor either

I never much liked that consistency of peanut butter advice. The texture of thinset is so different than the texture of peanut butter, the advice is difficult to apply. You are probably more likely to have problems from thinset that is too wet than from thinset that is too dry.
