tile over glass
What is the best way to set some tiles on a glass surface?
I have one of these windows by the kitchen sink that sticks out into the yard about 12 inches. It has an aluminum frame and has glass sides, top, bottom, etc. I am thinking about putting tile on the bottom glass, which is at about the same level as the counter top. Any suggestions?

My suggestion is: don't do it! Glass is weak, brittle, doesn't bond well to adhesives, and shouldn't be thought of as a construction material. You might modify the frame--replace the glass with 3/4" plywood, make sure the assembly is rigid!, then 1/4" to 1/2" cement backerboard and tile on top of that.
