Question slate flooring installed on concrete subfloor

just wondering if anyone can help me on this...im putting slate tiles down on a concrete sub floor..the floor had linol. down but i ripped it up and scraped the floor(hours of fun there)....the floor is smooth but you can see where the glue was?? what do i do?? sand more or just hope that the mortor mix will stick and that the slate tiles wont pull up? please help..thanks

if the floor is smooth then don't worry about it.You will always see some trowel marks and glue residue unless you put some kind of chemical on it which you don't want to do.
You do want to check for cracks and aany deformities in the slab though,i would say moisture test too but with the vinyl being down and no probs then you are ok there.
Is this guaged or ungauged slate?Trowel size may be a factor as well
