Can I lay Tile over existing painted concrete floor?

I have a room in my basement that my wife and I would like to finish off. Its only 13 x 13 but we want to use this for her home office for her busniess. Plus its a great write off at tax time...

Any rate, the floor is concrete and looks either painted or sealed? Its like a greenish type what ever it is.. Any rate. Can I just tile on top of this? Or do I have to lay board down. I am kinda hoping I can just lay and go. Less time and cash...But want it to be the correct way?

Any suggestions?

Thanks.....

You should try to get all the paint off that you can. If you tile right over the paint the tile is only stuck as well as the paint.
