tile over tile

I have existing ceramic tile I would like to cover with new ceramic tile, is this possible and how do I go about doing it? The existing tile is 8" and I want to put down 12"

Is the tile going on the floor or wall? What room will this be done in (ie; bath/kitchen). These questions will affect the response.

Ok. First I would consider any doorways, does the doors have the clearance at the bottom to accommodate the rise in the floor. 2nd consider the existing base & door trim, they will need to be raised as well. At any areas that meet other flooring you will see the difference. With this confirmed I donít see any other reason that would prevent installing your new floor over the old. As far as doing it, you would use the traditional method of laying tile. If you are not aware how to install tile I would suggest you attend one of the free demonstrations classes the Home Depot has. They have a schedule posted at the front door. Good Luck
