Distilled water to mix grout?

Home Depot has a sign hanging in the tiling aisle that reads:
"We recommend only using distilled water when mixing grout".
I've never heard of that before.
Could it be that this particular HD is in a very high mineral content hard water area?

Never heard of that one. It may have something to do with minerals in areas with very hard water.

Ask them to explain that one and post their answer. I seldom pay much attention to "advice" from HD, but even a blind hog finds an acorn once in a while.

Sounds like some expensive grout work. I'm like Daniel, always just used what ever came out of the spigot.

Wow Dave, all these yrs I thought it was a blind squirrel looking for a nut, a hog huh

I know that some grout bags actually say to use distilled water. Probably to lessen colour change or something. Don't think it's mapei or tec.....I use them regularly.....perhaps its progrout. I've used that a few times. HHmmmmmmm......I know I've seen it somewhere.
