Smile mastic vs thinset

I am tiling a a small bathroom (80 sqft). What decides whether to use thinset vs mastic. Mastic may cost more but I understand it is more forgiving and is more tolerant of floors that flex a little. Right?

Wrong. On floors you want to use thin set. Mastic takes forever to dry under floor tile. Can you wait a few weeks to grout it? If not, you should use the thin set.

Mastic = Junk!!

Mastic is for backsplashes and walls, if that. That is all it is decent for. Don't use mastic on shower walls!!!

A modified thinset is all I will use inside. It can get you in trouble used outside in a region that has drastic seasonal temperature changes.
