Backerboard under tub

I am going to tile the bathroom floor and replace the tub. Should I lay backerboard over the plywood including the area where the tub goes or should the tub go directly over the plywood.

If you want to save a bit of money, then put the board up to the tub and leave just the ply underneath. Just make sure the cement board isn't touching the tub...especially if it's acrylic...stupid thing will squeek and drive you nuts everytime you walk in the room. When you do the tile, caulk that joint against the tub..if you grout it...it will squeek too.
