baseboard on tile floor

I'm tiling my bathroom floor and want to know how baseboard is typically handled.

Is the baseboard installed first? Or is the tile work done and then the baseboard set on top of the tile edges? Is shoe molding typically used as well? Any insight is appreciated.

Tile first, then the base to cover the joint against the wall. If you don't want to use shoemolding, use latex caulk to fill the joint at the floor. Nice clean look when finished, that doesn't crack.
