cutting ceramic tile

I am laying 12 inch ceramic tile in bath...have removed toilet and vanity. Have a duct opening close to wall. How do I cut the tile around the opening? The opening is 10 x 4 and 3 inches from the wall. Thank you

Depends on how many cuts you need to make besides around your heating duct. If you only have this one thing to do it may be worth your while to measure out the cuts you need to make, put some painter's tape on the tile to prevent it from chipping when it's cut, draw your lines on the tape where the cuts need to be made, mark which side of the line to cut, and take them to a tile store and pay their highly inflated price to do the cuts for you.

The alternative is getting your hands on a wet tile saw, or getting some nippers and a rubbing stone, and do a lot of work cutting the pieces out and shaping the tile by hand.

Thanks...we were going to rent a wet saw, however, did not know if we could cut the rectangle shape out of the tile(with tile left on both sides) or if we had to cut file in half. When we layed the tile out, we have one edge next to edge of duct so will just cut a rectangle from one end...we are taking this one to Lowes to have them cut...was cheaper than renting the saw...

They only charged 25 cents per cut...was less expensive than renting the wet make cut for duct they made U shape cut by cutting small fingers and then breaking off ends...only charged the 25 cents...was worth the trip to Lowes
