self adhesive tile question

Hi all,
I'm about to start redoing the kitchen floor with self adhesive vinyl tiles. The old floor is linoleum over 1/4" ply over tongue & groove planks. Question: should I remove the old ply and replace it with something thicker?

Also, should I use any other adhesive for the new tiles or is the sticky backedness good enough?
thanks

If your old vinyl is in good shape, you should be fine to strip the vinyl with a good stripper/cleaner, then skim coat the floor with an embossing levelor to fill in any pattern in the floor, then set your vinyl tiles. If floor prep is done properly, there should be no need for additional glue.
Moderators--If you move this thread to the vinyl forum, they'll get better advice tham from a bunch of us ceramic heads that see vinyl as something that we only ever tear out.
