ceramic tile over concrete

In my second floor bathroom of pre-1930 home there is about
seven inches of concrete used for the floor(the tub also rests
on the concrete. Can I lay ceramic tile over this concrete slab
there is no other tile on it? Thanks for any help

The short answer is yes you can, but if there is any sealer or paint on the floor it will need to be scraped off. Chemicals are not a good idea unless you can get the floor thoroughly cleaned afterward. Also there cant be any cracks in the floor where one side is higher than the other. This would indicate movement or settling which would crack the tile if it happened again. Spider cracks could be covered with an anti fracture membrane then set the tile.
