ceramic tile addition on concrete

I have recently purchased a home the folks put ceramic tile in the laundry room shy 3x6ft area. The concrete is extremely uneven and by looking at the existing tile I do not believe they used a subflooring. I would like to finish this area with the left over tiles available to me, but how do I prepare the area to keep the old and new tiling job the same height? Thanks

If the floor is uneven, you will need to grind down the high spots and the you can fill in the low spots with Self Leveling Cement. The concrete needs to be clean, free of paint, sealers and any active cracks. If old nonmoving cracks exist you can cover with a anti-fracture membrane then tile.
