bathroom soap holders

I would like to drill a few drain holes in the shower soap dishes.Is there any special drill bit needed to do this? Thanks

You're going to need a good masonry bit and still could end up chipping or breaking if it's a ceramic. I've always thought those should have been included into the design of the soapdish to start with.

They sell special bits for drilling glass/tile that work really well on ceramic tile. Use a sharp object to chip away the glaze where you want your holes then proceed to drill. I always use the slow speed setting on my drill and dont get too close to any edges for fear of breaking/chipping a section off.

The drill bits tips are shaped like a spade, and come in various standard sizes at any homecenter.

soap dish

Used a diamond bit made bt Hitachi and a cordless drill. Had no problems at all drilling through the porcelain holders. Thanks
