There is a marble poultice (dust) that gets mixed to paste consistency then spread over the marks. The poultice draws the stain out. If these are burn marks from a cigarette you may have damage to the stone which would require a professional stone refinisher. Sorry I cant help more, but I can direct you to www.ntc-stone.com Go to the ask the experts forum on that site. Those guys are all professional stone refinishers and can guide you correctly. Refinishing is best left to someone with the knowledge and right tools. If you know the name of the marble that would help them as different stones require different types of treatment.

As Bob pointed out, the damage is probably more than a stain. If not try Hydrogen Peroxide (hair bleaching strength)
