ceramic tile, could floor tile be used on wall
I understand the reason for not using wall tile on the floor due to the high traffic and the weight. can I use 12x12 on the wall,to have a uniformed look inthe bathroom and the shower and what type of underlayment goes on the wall and also what is applied to the floor and the shower

Yes, you can use those tile on the wall.
The underlayment in the shower should be a cement board, like Hardibacker, Wonderboard, Durock, etc. Put a 6 mil plastic sheet behind the cement boards to protect the studs from water intrusion through the grout lines or wicking up from the bottom of the wall.
Use modified thinset to set the tile. The floors should also have cement board. Set them in a bed of thinset and anchor with 1 & 1/4" galvanized roofing nails. Tape all seams with mesh tape on the floor and walls as you set the tile.
