Installation Order of Shower Base Install

I've completed demo of a very small (5'x6') bathroom at my summer house and am ready to lay the concrete board and move forward. The new shower base is a pre-formed neo-angle circular. I need to know whether I can do the finish ceramic tile BEFORE setting the shower base. The concern is cutting the circular tiles after the base is set.

I did that once before and it worked out ok. Just make sure the floor is as close to level as you can get it otherwise you will have a gap between the floor tile and the base unit where the floor drops away. Much easier to do it your way than to cut the curves in the tile and lessens the chance of water getting under the base where it could attack the plywood.

Regrouting shower walls

I have a tiled stall shower that I need to regrout. I've noticed that water leaks from the shower onto the floor through the holes in the grout. I purchased grout to do the job, but the instructions say that I need to wait 21 days for the grout to cure before I can seal it and not to get any water on it during that time! That seems like a long time to wait to use my shower again. Is this correct? This would be rather inconvenient, although I have another bathroom with a shower I can use. What I'm really concerned about is the water leakage and the condition of the wall behind the tiles. How can I find out if the wall is bad and needs to be replaced? I don't feel any "soft" spots on the tiled wall. Thanks! :wall:Read More

Edges of Tile Floor

I'm getting ready to install a ceramic tile floor in a very small bathroom and was wondering about the edges. on 3 sides of the room there are walls and the last side is a fiberglass shower. My question is how do I do the edges? Do i leave a grout gap the same size as I am using between the tiles on all edges (both the Shower and Walls) or do I treat them differntly?
