Cool Wainscote over existing tile

I am in the process of redoing my bathroom and I was wondering if I should take down my existing tile (halfway up the wall) before I install wainscoting. Can I just put the wainscoting over the existing tile?undefinedundefined

You can but I wouldn't.

I mean, I wouldn't do it again.

Are you putting up wood plancks? or the Panel stuff?
How high up?

I had a 4.5 foot tile work to deal with with the panel stuff.
No amount of glue was keeping stuck. It was terrible.

I would knock the tile down, smooth the highspots and put up whatever.
You may have to quick patch the drywall, depending on if the tile took out any gouges,
but I think it would be worth it.
