A buddy of mine is going to help me lay new slate tile in my 60 sq ft kitchen (small, I know). After pulling up two layers of self-stick vinyl tiles and removing the leftover glue residue, I'm down to the original terrazzo floor. He told me to use muriatic acid to prep it so that the mortar will adhere better. Is this the best way to go about this? I'm a little concerned about using the acid properly.
Thanks in advance,
Joel

BAD IDEA!
Muratic acid is hazardous and shouldn't be used indoors without using great care and caution. The fumes can be harmful to your health and even damage some of your interior metal objects.
In addition, that's not how muriatic acid works and it won't do a thing to the terazzo.
If you want the mortar to adhere better use the proper mortar and scuff the terazzo mechanically.
