Grout on porous tiles

Have tiled kitchen backsplash with a porous tile with random indentions. Concerned that when I grout, residue will remain in the holes on the tile. Any suggestions as to how to avoid this from happening?

Is this tumbled marble or limestone with the "worm holes"? If so, they are meant to be filled with grout. If it is something else with indentattions and not holes all the way through the tile, then put a sealer (2 coats) on the tile after installation but before grouting. Let it dry over night then put the grout on. You should grout small areas at a time and dont let the grout dry in the indentations. Use a sponge and work those spots to get them clean.
