Installing tiles with different thicknesses

I'll be putting on ceramic tiles for my kitchen backsplash. I'd like to put in some glass tiles for the border but they are about 3/8" thinner than the ceramic tiles. Can someone tell me what I should use to make up the difference in thickness? I'm thinking about putting on a strip of wood underneath the glass tile. Would that work?
Thanks.

You will need white modified thinset under the glass tile. Put a thick coating on the backs of them the night before and let it dry. the next day sand down any high spots and install them, they will be a lot closer to flush with the other tile that way.
