Porcelain tile over uneven subfloor
#1

Help.
I am putting down a new porcelain tile floor in the bathroom but the subfloor is uneven by almost 3/4" from one end to the other. What can I use to even out the floor that's off by this much? Also, I'm concerned that whatever I use will seep through the subfloor into the basement. The subfloor is plywood but a combination of tongue-in-groove and plywood sheets.
I'm inexperienced, does it show :-). Any and all help is greatly appreciated!!!

You better explain the layers of t&g and plywood. That could cause a problem and after everything you will need a 1/4" cement board set in thinset, then use Self Leveling Cement to build up the low area. Caulk, tape, styrofoam, whatever, get all holes clogged before you put down the SLC or it will find its way to your basemnet.

I'm not sure what you meant by "explain the layers of t&g and plywood". We added to the existing floor which was t&g with plywood sheets. Just to make sure I have the sequence right, the cement board first then the self leveling compound?
Thanks for the assistance.

You have the right sequence. What is the thickness of each layer of ply you have down now? Is the t&g down first and then the regular ply laid on top of that? The top layer should not be glued to the first layer.
