tiling around toilet bowl

I have ripped my bathroom apart and am planning to tile on the concrete floor. The only part of the bathroom that I am not planning to replace is the toilet bowl.

Can I simply tile around the bowl?

or
Should I take the bowl out, tile under it and then replace the bowl?

Thank you for your advice.

Most definitely plan "b". I personally think it is easier and definitely looks better. Not to mention if you ever change toilets and the base in not the same

If the new tile is thick (3/8") you can buy flange extenders that will make up the space created by the new tile. Good luck with your project.
