How Level is Level?

I'm putting in travertine tile in an 8 ft by 8 ft 2nd floor bathroom floor. The subfloor is 3/4 inch plywood. I'm using LevelQuick to level the floor. At this point I've got a few highs and lows but the worst case is a 1/2 inch drop over 8 feet.

After the LevelQuick I'll be placing 1/2 inch cement board followed by RedGuard, electric floor heating cables and then the travertine.

How level do I need the subfloor to be?

Thanks.

Let's start over, your heading for a disaster doing it that way, no backerboards over SLCs for one.

What size are the joists, there spacing and length of them unsupported?, stone needs almost twice the strength of ceramic.

The floor needs to be FLAT not level, but level would be ideal.

Thanks for that.

The joists are 2 by 10s on 15 inch centers. The unsupported length is 14 feet.

When I said cement board I meant 3 by 5 foot by 1/2 inch Duroc cement board (backer board).

What does SLC mean?

I understand that the floor needs to be flat and that level is ideal.

Lay your cement board into a bed of thinset mortar and then fasten. The thinset will help flatten the installation of the CBU

First, thinset under the backerboard won't level anything, the backerboard will still follow the contour of the floor after screwing it down.

Second your floor system just meets specs for ceramic, it will need extra support if you want stone.

SLC= Self Leveling Compound.

Yes, I know what size the backerboard is, and you only need 1/4" backerboard, unless you need the height, backerboards by the way, don't add any strength to the floor.
