tile floors
#1

We bought a home that was built in 1970. The floors have Linolum (12" squares). We want to pull this up and put down ceramic tiles. We are told that we can leave old squares on the floor if glued down good. Well, some is some is not. My wife wants to put it in all of the rooms too. I have never seen ceramic tile in bedrooms before. Does this sound ok?? Is this good or not a good idea? thanks Rodney

I disagree with going over the vinyl. You may have cracked or loose tiles later on. The right way for a do it yourselfer to do it (and this is the cheapest way) is to put down a half inch layer of plywood screw it down with drywall screws every 6 inchs. When you lay the tiles use FLEXBOND THINSET sold at home depot or you can use FULL FLEX THINSET sold at tile stores. I also disagree with tiling bedrooms, there are so many reasons I can't list them.
